Programs are available for athletes of all ages at various times during the week. These programs develop offensive and defensive skills, fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling, quickness, conditioning, post moves, one-on-one moves and much more. To set up an appointment for private lessons or private classes, please call the Director at 209.234.7056 or 510.681.9515

Private Lessons $40/hour per person
NOTE: This does not include gym fee.

Semi-private (2 people) $65/hour for both people

Private and Group Lessons

Private lessons offer a more "hands-on" approach to teaching the fundamentals, skills and techniques of the game of basketball. This level of teaching is geared toward those players who are serious about taking their game to the next level.

Group lessons are for groups of 2 or more players. Examples of group work:

1 ) A couple of players get together to work on improving their overall game or specific skills
2 ) A volunteer coach will request our services to come out and run a practice working on areas of the game where the team seems to be weak or lacking.

Balance:
Balance is listed first because it may well be the single most important yet most underrated factor in athletics. In order to meet the demand of sports that require quick stops and starts as well as change of direction, exercises today must raise Proprioceptive Demand. Proprioception is the position sense provided by the receptors in the joints, ligaments and tendons. To put it simply, it is the body’s natural ability to respond and adjust to abnormal positions and situations.

Agility:
Agility is the ability to explosively brake, change direction, and accelerate again. Agility implies greater involvement of deceleration and the ability to reactively couple it with acceleration. The athletes in these classes are put through exercises that explosively train their reactive ability through the use of Agility Ladders, Resistance Tubing, Side Strikes, Cones, among other things. Lower Body Plyometrics are used in conjunction with these drills to enhance explosive power. Plyometric refers to exercises that enable a muscle to reach maximal force in the shortest possible time. Some examples include hops, jumps, bounding, power skips and platform jumps and drops.

Quickness:
Quickness involves applying the ability to accelerate rapidly in any direction, but in this class its first and primary focus is First Step Quickness. Here form plays an important part in establishing the ability to start quickly. Posture, Arm Action and Leg Action are emphasized and constantly worked to ensure correct force application and proper transition to top speed. Another very important factor which is stressed in these classes is keeping the body over the center of gravity. Lower Body Plyometrics are emphasized here also.

Speed:
Speed is the ability to achieve high velocity or the demonstration of explosive force applied to a specific task. This is probably the hardest of all factors to train because there are many contributing elements to speed training. Two of the main areas are Stride Frequency (rate) and Stride Length. These are how fast the athlete’s stride is and how long it is.

To tie it all together is the Core Training that the athlete goes through in every class session. In order to perform any athletic movement faster and stronger, every athlete must strengthen their Abdominals, Oblique, and Lower Back muscles. In the 9-13 age group, every drill starts with Beginner and slowly progresses to Intermediate, whereas in the 14-up age group every drill moves from Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced. Athletes are always tested at the beginning and at the end of each four-week session to chart their progress.

Our staff is committed to providing players with an opportunity to improve their team and individual skills so that they can eventually be successful playing at the high school and college levels
